The historic Deauville Hotel, an emblematic facility in the Cuban capital, reopens after a complete renovation. Located right in front of Havana's Malecon, near the historic-cultural center and about 20 km from the José Martí International Airport, it enjoys a privileged location to discover the great charms and history that Havana, the capital of the Caribbean, offers its visitors.
The Deauville Hotel occupies a 14-story building right at the intersection of Galiano and Malecón streets. Its 144 rooms offer marvelous views of the sea or the city center, and after the hotel's renovations, they will be more comfortable and equipped according to the latest trends.
Guests from all over the world who choose the Deauville as a starting point to visit Havana will find themselves just a few minutes away from the Historic Center and the modern area, which includes the Vedado neighborhood. The hotel's swimming pool, located on the 6th floor, is an excellent place to relax and enjoy the panoramic view of the Malecón; there is also a buffet restaurant, an à la carte restaurant, a lobby bar and a cafeteria.
Opened in 1957, the Deauville was one of the many projects promoted by the American mafia in Havana. It owes its name to a French locality (next to the beaches of Normandy) famous for its luxury accommodations. It was built by a consortium owned by Santo Trafficante Jr. and in its beginnings it had a cabaret and two casinos. It is one of the classic hotels on the Malecón (along with the Riviera and the Hotel Nacional) and its building, characterized by the bright blue façade, identifies this area of the Wonder City.
