Santa Clara, a lively town with a rich, revolutionary history, is a popular destination, but was often zipped through en route to somewhere else. The lack of comfortable, well-appointed hotels in town was partially responsible. All that changed in 2012 when a major capital investment updated and repaired the Hotel América.
Originally built in the 50’s, the Hotel América is a landmark building (some Art Deco details remain on the façade) in the city center across from the iconic Coppelia ice cream parlor. Thanks to the renovation, everything here feels bright, fresh, and clean, including the 27 standard rooms.
The América is a stylish, comfortable boutique hotel with an emphasis on service. However, there’s no elevator here, which may be important for visitors with mobility issues.
The location of the Hotel América is superb, with the city’s animated main square, Parque Vidal, just steps away and the Che Guevara Monument within 30 minutes walking distance (5 minutes by taxi).
For a pleasant stay in the city center, the Hotel América makes an excellent choice.
