Castillo en las Nubes Hotel

This is the kind of place where a writer would stay to finish his book. Literally a castle, located on the top of a mountain. Couples will love to escape to this secluded and romantic place. It does not matter if you look from your window or from the terrace: the view will leave you breathless.

The building was built in 1940. Its former owner wanted a medieval style mansion, away from the hustle and bustle of the city. Years ago it worked as a restaurant, and in 2016 it reopened its doors as a singular boutique hotel.

It is reached here by a steep road, after a few minutes by car from the Orquideario de Soroa. However, some prefer to do the one kilometer walk. The plating of stones and the circular tower give it an austere appearance, which contrasts with the cozy interiors.

The pool and the restaurant are rather small. However, that is not a problem, because the hotel has only six rooms, so there will be few people. This completes the atmosphere of peace, ideal for a good reading, or simply enjoy the silence.

You can also take a ride on horseback or on foot. You should not miss the Los Manantiales waterfall and the Soroa waterfall. On the safe path you will find some typical birds of the Cuban fields.

These hills are part of the Sierra del Rosario, named Biosphere Reserve. The town of Soroa is eminently touristy, but retains the charm and simplicity of a country town. There are several restaurants and private cafeterias, which will allow you to better know the flavors and aromas of Cuban cuisine. This community belonged to the province of Pinar del Río, but since 2010 it is part of Artemisa.
