"Havana’s Highlights" Bike Tour

We believe that the best way to hit all of Havana’s highlights is by bike, giving you the freedom of movement and the pace to take in most of the city in just a few hours. Havana city emerged as a product and witness of a tumultuous and epic history, due to its position as a gateway to the New World. Havana’s monuments, architecture, urban landscapes and atmosphere are a direct illustration of the grandeur and splendor that has made this city exceptional since its founding.

We’ll bike together from Spanish colonial sites, to American style buildings, around city’s busiest neighbourhoods of Centro Habana, to glamorous parks and lanes, along the city’s seaside boardwalk, and of course, to the grand square where Fidel Castro gave many passionate speeches to thousands of Cubans. Let’s capture the city’s charm with many photos, and observe how present-day Cubans interact with this splendid city’s past. You will undoubtedly have an unforgettable experience of Havana, full of fun and laughter, after which you can truly say you have seen the all of the city’s highlights.

Itinerary

This route will take us through the highlights of the “hipster” Havana all the way to the historical center. We will visit the oldest square Plaza de Armas, El Templete, the Afro-Cuban Art street Callejón de Hamel, the huge Colón Cemetery, the Plaza de la Revolución, Universidad de La Habana and more of Centro Habana, Old Havana and Vedado neighbourhoods. For the last, we will see the bay, the forts and we will bike along of the Malecón.

Meeting Point: We will meet at Parque de los Mártires Universitarios (square) in front of Ferlan’s bike-shop, near the University of Havana, very centrally located!in Ferlan's Bikes San Lázaro 117, Centro Habana. Between Jovellar and San Francisco.

Special notes:

• Please, show up in the meeting point 15 minutes before the time to begin the tour.
• You can join with your bike whenever you want, participating is free.
• The minimum age is 18. Teens between 15-17 years of age can attend only to companionship of a legal guardian. The minimal age to participate is 14.
• The guest must have good urban cycling experience. There are no bicycle lanes in Cuba.
• Attenders should can to ride a bicycle comfortably up to 20 kilometers (12.4 miles).
• It is recommended to wear ligh-colored clothing.
• You must bring lights to pedal at night.
• At the meeting point, we will provide security equipment and give some instructions for safe cycling.
• Followed, the leader will ask for suggestions to create the route at the moment. He has as mission to design an attractive route of 4 hours through the city of Havana.
