VARADERO GOLF CLUB:

Located in Matanzas, on the Varadero peninsula, the Varadero Golf Club occupies a narrow strip of 3.5 km long bordering the Hotels "Super Clubs Varadero", LTI "Tuxpan" and "Bella Costa", Melia "Las Americas" Golf & Suites Resort, Melia Varadero and Sol Club Palmeras. Designed by Architect Les Furber, President of the Canadian Company Golf Design Services Ltd (GDS)

Following the design of the company GDS, the 64.4 hectares of the field have been divided into:

• Game areas: 39.7 Ha
• Greens: 1.5 Ha.
• Ante-Green: 2.0 Ha.
• Tees: 2.0 Ha.
• Fairways: 23.9 Ha.
• Rough: 10.3 Ha.
• Forests of autochthonous vegetation: 3.3 Ha.
• Lagoons: 13.4 Ha.
• Internal roads: 3.7 Ha.
• Other architectures and parking: 0.9 Ha.
• Total area: 61 Ha.

TECHNICAL CHARACTERISTICS OF THE FIELD:

• 18 holes; Par 72; 5 Holes Par 5 and 5 Holes Par 3; the remaining 8 Holes are Par 4.
• 6 269 lineal meters of route between the First Tee or exit and the Green 18. Three golf architecture styles are combined: Classic design, wide streets bounded by trees, wide greens and few protected. Challenging design or "Target Golf", modern style with narrow streets and much protected greens, surrounded by sand traps and lakes. The Varadero Golf Course has several saltwater lakes that communicate directly with the sea, a feature that makes them almost unique in the world. Design of "links, holes located next to the sea, which follow the silhouette of the coast, including the sea as an obstacle in the game.
• The route of the Field by its configuration can be divided into two perfectly differentiated zones. A first round, from 1 to 9 that we can consider slightly easier and the second route from 10 to 18, where the holes stand out for their complexity, 11,15,16,17,18. This allows combining all the technical elements that every golfer desires with the beauty, peace, silence and quality of the route.
• The Golf Course continues with its most ambitious golf facilities projects opening the first Golf School operated by professionals of the PGA and Instructors of the Cuban Golf Federation.
• The quality of the practice areas structure (area of 300 meters for long game, 2 putting greens, 1 shipping green, 2 bunkers) allow to develop the instruction in roofed areas, the use of accessories, golf clubs, practice balls. All those who wish to get started in the secrets of the sport will have the possibility of attending the training sessions for one hour starting at 9:00 a.m., with a maximum of four students per instructor.
• The Golf Academy conceives different programs governed by the rules, rules and ethics of sport at an international level, open to all professionals and their students who wish to enjoy such a passionate sport surrounded by our wonderful beaches and our culture.

We have an instruction center that provides the following:

• Internship services
• Golf initiation classes: This type of class is for beginners which provide a group of basic elements for the practice of sport that includes a group of elements such as basic rules of Golf, Stand. Swing, Grip Grip, Short Game and putt as well as game techniques in the bunkers. Within the initiation we can contemplate the golf packages that allow deepening more in these aspects and including in the last session a tour of 5 holes with the teacher in the field, a letter is issued certifying what has been learned by the player.

Clinical Classes

• It is preferably for those golfers that having game elements receive advice from the teachers to improve their level of play or correct difficulties in the Swing, Grip Grip, Short Play and putt as well as game techniques in the bunkers.
• The academy has 1 instructor and 1 professional golf, has an opening hours of 7:00 am to 7:00 pm for practices and classes from 7:00 am to 6:00 pm, for classes which must be reserved in the Pro Shop (phone: 667788) or the Sale Department (phone: 668482).
