"TREKKING TO THE PALMARITO VALLEY" Tour

The Viñales Valley, a landscape declared a National Park since 1979 and a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1999, is undoubtedly one of the most visited sites in Cuba. The Palmarito Valley is accessed from the Cueva de la Vaca just north of the town of Viñales, its journey always takes more than 4 hours and it is recommended to do it in the morning because there are not many shaded areas and temperatures are less intense.

Description:

• An experienced local guide will pick you up at your hotel or hostel in the town of Viñales around 9:00 a.m. to take you to the Palmarito Valley, a natural environment that can boast of having the most beautiful scenery in the Viñales Valley.
• It is a hike through one of the most traditional trails of the National Park, which crosses the Viñales Valley.
• We will visit a coffee farm where we will discover the very interesting process of elaboration of coffee. You can also visit the plantations to discover the traditions of cultivation in Cuba.
• The excursion goes through the tobacco plantations and cultivation of the peasants and the well known mogotes of Viñales, where there is always some intrepid climber hanging on the rock.

• We will continue on our way to the Palmarito Cave, where we will discover the impressive stalactites and stalagmites inside. It is a completely silent cavern, in darkness. Descending, about a hundred meters from the access we will find a natural lake. Guests can also immerse themselves in its crystalline subway waters and relax and continue on their way back. (The visit to the cave must be accompanied by a guide and to enter the cave requires additional payment to the farmer who owns the land where it is located).
• The return trip to the hotels in Viñales will start around 1:00 p.m. It will be done on the other side of the valley where you can enjoy the beautiful scenery between valleys and hillsides.

Distance to be covered during the tour:

• During the hiking route we will travel approximately 15 kilometers during the 4 hours. On the route we will make different stops to appreciate the impressive and unique landscape of the mogotes of Viñales and its traditional plantations.
