Tarará is a gated resort town in the municipality of Habana del Este in the city of Havana, Cuba. It is about 19 km east of the city centre and west of other beaches including Santa Maria del Mar and Guanabo. This town was one of the most flourishing urbanizations in the area in the 1950s. Its isolated location, its picturesque landscape given by the relief of the area that descends towards the coast and creates views of the sea and the river throughout the town and, from the construction of the Havana Tunnel and the White Way in the years 1956-1957, in addition to its easy access to Havana City, they turned the town into a desired summer resort and residence for the middle class. The name of this town arises when, on the beach called Cobre, the Spanish military detachments took care of the work and the shipment of the mineral to the metropolis. To start these operations, they played the Trumpet, letting themselves hear the sound TA-RA-RA. In this way the Indians named their coastal area, its river and its land in this way. At the entrance to the town there is a cave where aboriginal remains were found in the 1940s.
For years it was a place for children's vacation plans, in addition to a program of care for children with asthma and diabetes. Also, thousands of children affected by the disaster in Chernobyl were sheltered and treated.
