The Canímar River, Cuba's national monument in the city of Matanzas, this river is considered among the most important archaeological sites in Matanzas, a province populated millennia ago by aboriginal communities at different levels of development. The Canímar is born in the Santa Ana region, it receives waters from numerous tributaries which come from Juan Gualberto Gómez, Cidra, Caoba, Limones and Santa Ana. Among the most important are the Yaité or Yaití, known as Limones Grandes, that of La Palma, that of Cidra and that of Guamacaro also called Moreto or Morato. The Canímar River is, in terms of flow and length, the main river of the province of Matanzas, Cuba.
The Canímar River Tourist Park, just 25 minutes from Varadero, offers guests a paradisiacal setting, where they can navigate by boat through the cliffs and exotic vegetation along the legendary Canímar River, where they can enjoy optional horseback riding, a performance of the aboriginal legends of the area or delight in the rich flavor of Cuban cuisine.
