The María la Gorda International Diving Center (CIB), one of the most important in Cuba, is located in the beautiful Guanahacabibes Natural Park, declared a UNESCO Natural Biosphere Reserve, in the south of Pinar del Río in the westernmost part of Cuba. The María la Gorda International Diving Center (CIB) has approximately 60 dive sites of extraordinary beauty located at a maximum of 20 minutes of navigation from the pier. Due to the quality and conservation of the Coral Reefs in this area of the Caribbean Sea, its waters are crystal clear and calm, with great visibility. The diving activities take place between 15 and 35 meters deep, next to where the continental slope begins, an abrupt wall of more than 2000 meters where you can appreciate practically all the marine fauna typical of the Caribbean Sea. The dives seduce divers for its lush coral gardens, for its abundant and varied marine fauna and the exquisite transparency of its waters. Two of these sites are the most famous: the Salon de Maria, where you will be amazed by the wide variety of corals and delicate sea lilies, and the Black Coral Valley, the largest black coral extension in Cuba. Guests will also be able to observe beautiful underwater landscapes such as Yemaya, a large wall that will take you into a tunnel. El Jardín de Gorgonias, El Ancla de Francois, El Almirante or Tetas de María are other major dive sites in the area. The large presence of coral populations are visible from five meters deep, so you can also enjoy the practice of snorkeling.

Description:

The excursion includes transfer to and from the dive site. The diving service includes equipment, air tank, belt with weights, the assistance of an internationally certified instructor guide, who will brief you on the dive to be done, as well as the use of the boat that will take you from the dive center to the dive sites.

  • Capacity per trip: It has boats of 41 feet in length for 10, 12 and 16 divers.
  • Frequency: 2 daily departures at 08.30 hrs and 14.00 hrs.

Observations:

• Services included: Tank, weights, boat and crew, dive guide for every 6 divers and transfer María La Gorda hotel - dive center - María La Gorda. • Services not included: Additional equipment rental, IN regulator, gratuities, meals and beverages on the dive boat. • Divers must bring with them the regulator IN connection, otherwise they will have to pay at the Marina's bureau, this extra charge. • Divers must present their certification (international diving certification) or license and logbook, as well as their international passport. • Divers must accept the signature of the diving risk waiver form. • In the case of accompanying persons, clients under 12 years of age are not accepted. • When prior notification of the Meteorology and Maritime Safety Report communicated to the diver clients, they cannot leave the boat for the diving area, due to bad weather, every effort will be made to compensate with complementary dives if conditions improve during their stay at the facility and provided that the established minimum is met. No full refunds of money paid for missed dives will ever be made under the above circumstances. • A maximum of 3 dives per day are allowed at this destination. Due to the distance from the port to the dive sites, dive trips are normally full day. • For the safety of the divers it is recommended not to fly within 24 hours of your last dive. If you do so, it is at your own risk. • Diver departures are conformed depending on the level of the divers from Scubadiver to advanced level.
