"A DAY IN BARIAY" Tour
We offer a diverse selection for panoramic tours of the most significant sites in Cuban history, culture and contemporary life. So this is a treat for those seeking some vacation adventures on their Cuba holiday tour.
Bariay is the site where Admiral Christopher Columbus landed for the first time on the island of Cuba on October 28, 1492. It is located in the province of Holguín. It owes its name to an indigenous word that was constantly repeated by the inhabitants of the area upon the arrival of the Spanish conquerors, turned into toponymic, derived from Baria, endemic tree of the country. Since 1937, scientists from all over the world agree that this site of Cuban geography, which united the history and culture of two continents, is the same Port of San Salvador described by Columbus in his navigation diary. Currently, Bariay National Monument Park is a protected natural area, where the Maniabón Hills stand out, with gentle slopes and lush vegetation that descend to the plains, with abundant coconut trees and royal palms, making excursion tourism the main attraction of the park.
Explore the Bariay Monument National Park and discover the landscape that Columbus knew when he arrived in Cuba. Visit the archaeological museum where the vestiges of a Spanish fort from the 19th century or the aboriginal huts are displayed. Do not miss the monument that represents the meeting of two cultures: the European and the aboriginal.
