“DEEP SEA FISHING IN SANTIAGO DE CUBA“ Tour

DEEP SEA FISHING OR TROLLING IN SANTIAGO DE CUBA: Experience one of Cuba’s most thrilling marine adventures with a deep-sea fishing or trolling excursion in the warm, clear waters of the Caribbean Sea, off the coast of Santiago de Cuba. Fishing in Cuba is truly one of a kind — the island’s privileged location and the multiple ocean currents that bathe its shores create the perfect environment for an astonishing diversity of marine life. The geological platform surrounding the island is rich in coral reefs, providing refuge to countless varieties of fish. As the platform slopes away from the coast, the depth increases — and so does the size of the species you can encounter. In these deep waters, anglers can expect to find Serrucho, Emperor, and Castero, among many others. The abundance of shrimp, lobster, crabs, and other fascinating marine creatures adds to the beauty of this ecosystem, making fishing in Santiago de Cuba an unforgettable experience for both seasoned anglers and curious travelers.

Fishing takes place all year round, with trolling boats using artificial bait to attract a wide range of species. Each fish has its own season or “run,” and the most frequent include:

  • Castero: July–September (northwestern shelf) and September–November (northeastern shelf)
  • Emperor: Late February–early April (mainly northwestern shelf)
  • Wahoo: Late October–early December
  • Marlin (Aguja): Late May–early July
  • Sierra and Serrucho: July, primarily on the northwestern shelf
  • Bonito, Albacore, and Yellowfin Tuna: Year-round, though best in early spring (May)

Your adventure begins aboard a 33-foot or 41-foot motor yacht, departing from the Marina Marlin Santiago de Cuba, located on the southern coast of the city.
