The LA GRIETA trail is an irresistible proposal, it belongs to the karst heights of Maniabón and is located in the Yaguajay Hill in the municipality of Banes. With the objective of promoting ecotourism and local development, at every step it promises the hiker a natural spectacle and to enter a world full of vegetation and birds. It is one of the largest bird watching areas in eastern Cuba. LA GRIETA is a nature trail in the province of Holguin, Cuba, which promotes ecotourism and local development. It is an alternative to stimulate the participation of the community in the economic valuation of the landscape resources of the area. With a medium level of complexity, it is easy to access, since it is close to the hotel zone and can be reached by bicycle or car, we will explore this trail through an ancient karst crevice that has become a refuge for plants and animals. At the Bello Horizonte viewpoint, at the top of Yaguajay Hill, you will observe a beautiful coastal landscape with the contrast of the green vegetation with the Caribbean Sea in the background.

Itinerary: (tour sequence may vary)

• Medium complexity trail of 3 km.
• Pick up at the hotels and transfer to the path of the Grieta located on the hill of Yaguajay, where you can observe the traces of the geographical evolution of the area and significant specimens of flora and fauna including endemic and migratory birds, such as the Carta Cuba, Tocororo and Carpintero Jabao, Zunzum of great interest as well as the polymita.
• Time for photos and interpretation of the landscape at the viewpoint with excellent panoramic view of the Atlantic Ocean, which makes it even more special at sunrise and sunset.
• Return to the information center.
