Program

1st day:

• In the morning, arrival trip to the city.
• In the afternoon / evening: Welcome to Camagüey Tour

Description:

A warm welcome among medieval churches and plazas, traditional meals and Cuban music

First, visit the mock-up of the city to get a panoramic view of it and know a little about its history, and then take a bici-taxi ride around the five foundational squares of the old village, whose outstanding and diverse architectural styles are cited as one of the reasons why the center of Camagüey was declared an UNESCO World Heritage Site. You will be overwhelmed by the rich history, traditions and culture of this ancient city at the same time you get immersed in a wonderful travel to the medieval past of it. Then, a contrasting visit to the ¨Cinemas Street¨ a modern place dedicated to Cuban and Foreign cinematography. To finish, enjoy dinner at a private restaurant with traditional meals and a have an unforgettable night of Cuban music at Casa de la Trova.

2nd day:

• In the morning, Lemonade and Guarapo, Peasant for a Day Tour.

Description:

Share the daily living of a Cuban country family: cute up some sugar cane and learn to take out the juice from it, go for a ride on horseback and play dominoes

A glass of lemonade will sweeten your arrival in a rural farm in the countryside of Camagüey. Walk along the furrows, cut some sugar cane to make guarapo (cane juice) and enjoy riding a horse. A typical Cuban lunch will precede a nap in hammock and a coffee. You won’t be missing our traditional dominoes. Watch a local potter turning clay into art in front of your eyes. Become an artist ant make a pot with your own hands!

This peculiar tour, will take you to the studio and pottery workshop of Casanova Family, heirs of pottery tradition in Camagüey. There you´ll watch a professional working the potter´s wheel and know how a tinajon (big-bellied pot used since the 17th century to gather rain water, and folk symbol of the city) is built. To finish, a fascinating and creative experience: put some clay in your hands and make your own piece of art!
