“Trinidad in my Heart” Tour

Founded by Spanish colonizer Diego Velazquez as the third settlement of the island, the colonial gem of Trinidad is nowadays one of the best preserved towns of the Caribbean and the second in Cuba to earn a UNESCO listing after Havana. After Hernan Cortes set sail from here to discover Mexico, the city became incredibly wealthy through the sugar trade and the exploitation of slave labor in the cane sugar mills of the Valle de los Ingenios. Much of the heritage remains visible today and can be explored in and around the colorful cobblestone streets of Trinidad.

Trinidad is the best preserved colonial town in Cuba and the Valle de los Ingenios is a living museum of the former sugar trade of the 18th and 19th century. This UNESCO site is located at the southwestern coast of Cuba, in the Sancti Spiritus province, in the center of the island. Originally founded in 1514 by Diego Velazquez, most buildings in Trinidad date from the time of the sugar trade in the 18th and 19th centuries. The UNESCO inscription happened in 1988.

Description:

The tour begins with an explanation of the Guide on the itinerary to follow. Walking through the streets of Colonial Trinidad.
The First visit is to the Museum of History, Palacio Cantero that treasures a great variety of works of art and objects of high value heritage and its own architecture of the early nineteenth century reveal its splendor. It has a tower inside where they can enjoy a panoramic view of the city a few meters from Plaza Mayor.
Visit to the Municipal Art Gallery where the customer will see a large selection of contemporary art by local artists.
Right in front Plaza Mayor the second most preserved of Cuba, emblematic place of the city, protected by cast iron greyhounds and its famous lampposts.
Visit to Museum of Colonial Architecture, where the client can observe an exhibition at scale of the different elements that they make up the Colonial houses of Trinidad and a steam shower in their original marble relic tub from the 18th century.
Visit to the Parochial Major, Catholic Church, The Most Holy Trinity, which enjoys greater prestige for the richness of its architecture and art in its interior, also conserves the Christ of La Vera Cruz, protector of the city.
Visit to the Romantic Museum, former Palace of the Conde Brunet, who treasures an invaluable collection of art from the early 19th century and the architectural features of this property distinguish it for its unique beauty unveiled symbol of the city.
Visit to the Museum of the Fight against Bandits, former Convent of San Francisco de Asis, which has the tallest tower in the city where you can see the Heritage cultural and historical of the third village founded in Cuba. Inside it has an important graphic exhibition of the Fight Against bandits, for the defense of the Revolution.
Visit to the Plaza el Jigue, where the Villa de La Santísima Trinidad was founded, there celebrated the first Catholic Mass.
Visit to La Canchánchara Tavern, where the client can enjoy the typical drink of the city. (Optional not included) or a sugar cane juice.
After a walk through the streets of stones, enjoying the unique beauty of the city you will visit the House of Music place of cultural interest. - - - Walking around the house of La Trova where La Candonga is located where the customer can buy souvenirs.
Visit to Plaza Santa Ana, there, there are the ruins of the Church Santa Ana as well as the old Prison of the same name.
Visit to the former Barracks of the Dragon, today school of Art where the steam locomotives of the year 1552 are.
Visit to the Tobacco Factory where they will be able to appreciate the making of the same.
Return to Parque Céspedez
End of the tour.

Customer’s pick-up location: in the address of the hostel where they are staying or in place of reference (municipal library, located in marty street, in front of the bank and place of with drawal of cash in ATM very popular). The French and English speaking guide will take a tour of places of historical and cultural interest such as museums and churches, house of music and visit the steam train as well as the tobacco factory. • The collected may be delayed up to 15 minutes depending on the number of hotels and punctuality of customers. Customer should be informed on sales desk to avoid disagreements.

• This tour operates without a minimum of passengers. Holiplus will reconfirm 48 hours before the departure of your tour. If the provider decides to cancel, for not meeting the minimum required amount of passengers, Holiplus will offer an alternative tour or fully refund cost of your trip.

• Level of complexity: Low.

• No need to present identification (passport or tourist card) for the tour, thus avoiding losses or damage thereto.

Cancellation Policy

• In case of cancellation up to 72 hours before the departure time of the excursion, a penalty of 10% of the excursion fare will be charged. • Regarding cancellations made between 72 and 24 hours before the departure time of the excursion, a penalty of 50% of the excursion fare will be applied. • Cancellations reported within 24 hours before the departure time and No-Show (no presentation at departure time), a penalty of 100% of the excursion fare will be applied. • Booking fees and credit card surcharges cannot be refunded in case of cancellation.
