"RELEASE OF TURTLE HATCHLINGS" Tour

In Cayo Largo, every year between 10 thousand and 30 thousand turtle eggs of the Careta Careta (Cagüama), green turtle (Chelonia mydas) and hawksbill species are rescued and preserved until they hatch. These turtles arrive between the end of April and October -only at night- to lay their eggs on the beaches of Cayo Largo del Sur, considered the largest nesting site for sea turtles in Cuba and the fourth largest in the insular Caribbean. Holding a baby turtle to return it to its habitat awakens a special tenderness in any human being regardless of age or origin.

Very Important This excursion is subject to the natural weather conditions and the nesting and spawning seasons of the turtles, so it will not always be available.

The itinerary of this excursion will depend on the selected modality.

Turtle Release

• Voucher check with the Navy Representative.
• We will proceed to release the hatchlings in the respective beaches of the hotels.
• Approximate duration 1 hour
• Minimum 4 pax

Nesting Sighting

• Voucher check with the Marina Representative.
• Departure from the Hotel at 10:00 pm and drive to Playa Mal Tiempo or Playa Capricho.
• Tour of the beaches by a specialist of the Navy where he will give an explanation about the turtles among other technical data of interest, where you can enjoy the nesting process of the turtles that nest in that place.
• Approximate duration 1 to 3 hours
