Description:

Punta del Este, located approximately 23 kilometers east of the official entrance to the Protected Area, here will be observed during the course of the trip the high degree of conservation of natural vegetation, endemic and exotic species, as well as great diversity of birds, reptiles and others, there will be seven interpretive stops: in the official access to the South area, in the area of ​​carbonate extraction, in the coffee plantation, made the beginning of revolution, in the Area declared as a Featured Natural Element for its protection of Caribbean Pines, (species normally found in acid soils north of the pinero territory), then we continue our trip to the Punta del Este National Monument, with an area of ​​1175 ha.

Itinerary:

• Departure by minibus from Nueva Gerona.
• Arrival at the entrance to the Protected Area of ​​Managed Resources South of the Isle of Youth.
• Interpretive stop in the calcium carbonate extraction zone (10 min).
• Interpretive stop in the area Natural Element highlighted Pinar on limestone soil (brief ecological explanation on this outstanding natural element (15 min).
• Interpretive stop in the coffee area (brief explanation on the importance of who established this plantation and visit to the cenotes (10 min).
• Arrival at the Punta del Este weather station, brief explanation about the different activities that are carried out in the area.
• Departure to the cave of Punta del Este.
• Snack (Sandwich and a liquid).
• Departure to Playa la puntilla.
• Departure to the zoocriadero (crocodile) 18km. Place belonging to the swamp of Lanier, south of our territory pinero, area of ​​accumulation of sediments of peaty nature, with interior lagoons. Main reservoir of fresh water of the karst plain with predominance of mangrove, swamp and marsh grass forests, it has an extension (ha): 54.8 ha dedicated to the captive breeding of the Cuban crocodile, (C. rombifer) in artificial ponds for future reintroduction to the southern area.
• Departure to the town of La Fe, the second most important urban nucleus of the Island in transport.
• Return to Nueva Gerona.
