We invite you to discover the history through the coffee ruins that belong to the World Heritage Site. You will be able to enjoy the rural environment, coffee environment, way of life of rural communities in their routine and more, a journey through 5 ruins within a coffee landscape that will allow you to live part of the best preserved heritage of the beginning of Coffee in America.
Itinerary:
- Departure by Jeep to the Coffee Heritage Interpretation Center: Casa Dranguet.
- Tour to the ruins of the Fraternidad coffee plantation, a colorful two-story red house full of history, now converted into a living museum, where the beginnings of coffee production in Cuba are valued and witnessed, including a visit to the different areas of the exterior and interior of the house, recently restored by a three-handed project: European Union, Malongo Foundation and Conservator of the city of Santiago de Cuba.
- Ascent to the Fraternity Viewpoint where the impressive coffee and natural landscape will give you the opportunity to take a memorable travel photograph.
- Jeep ride to the ruins of the Santa Paulina hacienda, admiring the landscape made up of gallery forests, vegetation and river crossings.
- Start walking in Llano de San Felipe to the ruins of the San Luis de Jacas coffee plantation, which shows intact the evidence of its majestic hydraulic system that rests on 28 arches of carpanel type.
- An uphill walk of approximately 2 km will lead the visitor to the ruins of the coffee plantation San Juan de Escocia, where amazing planters with walls that recreate various geometric shapes will allow you to appreciate the ingenuity of its ancient inhabitants, the exceptional visuals of the natural landscape will be a call for attention and reflection.
- Time to rest and take pictures.
- Return downhill to the town of La Lucía.
- Enjoy a picnic lunch made with local products in an agricultural cooperative and exchange with the community.
- Time for rest, observation and discovery of the unique natural environment offered by the coffee community or optional bathing in the river.
- Return to the city with a stop in the town of Yerba de Guinea.
