"FAGRADALSFJALL VOLCANO HIKE" Private Tour
Highlights: The Fagradalsfjall Volcano, is one of the most spectacular natural attractions in Iceland "Book now and join us for the best private volcano tour experience in Iceland!"
In March 2021, a fissure opened in the Geldingadalir area of Iceland’s Reykjanes Peninsula, leading to the first volcanic eruption in over 800 years 1. The Icelandic Meteorological Office had registered over 4,000 earthquakes in the weeks leading up to the eruption, causing panic among locals living nearby Grindavík and Keflavík and even felt by residents of the capital Reykjavík
The volcanic eruption that began on March 19, 2021, at 20:45, was a spectacular and rare event that attracted many visitors and observers. The location of the eruption, near Grindavík, was ideal as it did not pose a significant threat to the nearby towns or infrastructure. Although there were some initial worries about the effects of the lava flow and the ash cloud, the eruption turned out to be relatively mild and contained. The sight of the glowing lava and the smoke plume was breathtaking and mesmerizing.
