Throughout this tour, you can discover a variety of petroglyphs which are part of the legacy of the Altiplanic cultures, and a unique landscape full of hills and formations of multiple colors. All this, gave the name of the “Rainbow Valley”.
The town of Yerba Buena is a place of great archaeological wealth since the existence of petroglyphs from pre-Hispanic times makes this an interesting place to visit.
Río Grande A small pre-Cordillera town that seems to exist stopped in time, with typical constructions of adobe, mud and stone, it is located on the banks of the river of the same name.
Itinerary
- Departure from the hotel in San Pedro de Atacama towards the Domeyko mountain range.
- First stop: Yerbas Buenas town, an area that contains a wealth of archaeological sites based on rock art.
- Then, we will cross Matancilla, a sector of ancestral shepherds and old ranches, to find the Valle del Arcoíris, a place where the mountain range takes on different colors thanks to its mineral content.
- Finally, we will visit the town of Rio Grande, a pre-Cordillera town that seems to exist stopped in time, with typical constructions of adobe, mud and stone. Here we will walk through its ancient streets and enjoy its originality.
- Return to the hotel.
