Itinerary
After picking you up at your hotel at 9:00 am, we will leave behind the historic center of the ancient capital of the Inca Empire to enter the South Valley of Cusco. Walking through the beautiful landscapes that lead to Andahuaylillas, a peaceful traditional village located at 3,122 meters above sea level, we will walk through its streets and main square to reach its picturesque chapel, known as the Sistine Chapel of America, since the ceiling and walls are full of paintings from the Cuzco school.
The tour will continue visiting Pikillacta, (Flea Village), which is a Pre-Inca archaeological complex of the WARI Culture. This place is located at an altitude of 3200 meters above sea level on the grounds of the Districts of OROPESA, LUCRE and ANDAHUAYLILLAS of the Province of QUISPICANCHIS, in Inca times its name was MUYUNA which means "Turn around", the central town that occupies 50 hectares is protected by walls with high walls of 10 meters high by 1.20 thick, built of chipped stone and assembled with compact mud; it has three types of houses: long and narrow with high walls, square with low walls, with layers of plaster stucco and in a triangular shape. Among these sets of rooms are squares with enormous esplanades and straight, narrow streets, two meters wide at most. Curiously, there is a total absence of doors and windows. Throughout the park there are 24 archaeological groups among them is RUMICOLCA which is an INKA COVER of fine andesite stone, this cover in the INKA ERA was a forced control.
From Pikillacta we will arrive to Tipón, an impressive archaeological complex of Inca worship. Here we will see with a guided tour how they worshipped water, one of the basic elements of the Andean cosmovision.
During the day we will have the opportunity to observe the beautiful URCOS lagoons, from the CASIARCUNCA viewpoint (it has the shape of a national shield), in its flora the totora stands out in which a variety of birds and fish live; the HUACARPAY lagoon at 3086 meters above sea level with an extension of approximately 1 km long and 600 meters wide, surrounded by a highway suitable for cycling or similar sports as well as water sports because of its flat waters. After this wonderful experience we will return to the city of CUSCO at approximately 4:00 pm.
