CASTRO, is a city on the island of Chiloé, in the Los Lagos region of Chile. Its coastline is lined with colorful wooden stilt houses. In the Plaza de Armas, there is the Church of San Francisco, built at the beginning of the 20th century and yellow in color, with 2 bell towers and a characteristic wooden interior. Nearby is the craft fair where woven baskets are sold. The Museum of Modern Art in Chiloé exhibits works by Chilean artists. To the west is the Chiloé National Park, which is home to sea lions.
DALCAHUE, is the capital of the Dalcahue commune, in the Los Lagos Region, Chile. It is located on the northern coast of the Dalcahue channel, on the eastern coast of the Big Island of the Chiloé archipelago.
QUINCHAO, is the third largest island in the Chiloé archipelago, with an area of 129.3 km² and a population, as of 2017, of 8,576 inhabitants.1 It comprises the entire commune of Curaco de Vélez and a large part of the territory of the commune of Quinchao. It is separated from the Isla Grande de Chiloé by the Dalcahue channel. It offers villas and towns ideal for cycling, as well as panoramic viewpoints with beautiful views of the inland sea.
CURACO DE VELEZ, here we will know its beautiful houses built with noble woods, which still maintain the architectural style of the early twentieth century. For its part, in the commune of Achao we will visit the oldest church in the archipelago, built in 1730 and under the protection of UNESCO.
Itinerary
Departure from Castro towards Dalcahue, where we will adjust our bicycles to start the adventure.
Then we will take a ferry to Quinchao Island.
Arrival and start of the tour of ideal villas, towns and panoramic viewpoints with beautiful views of the interior sea of Quinchao. The towns of Curaco de Vélez and Achao are the main points of the route.
