The Valley of the Moon is a desert landscape that is characterized by the steepness of the scenic break, the scenic beauty of its earthy colors, the absolute silence, the lack of humidity, flora and fauna, located in the Atacama desert, 13 km to the west of San Pedro de Atacama, in 1982 it was declared a nature sanctuary and is part of the Los Flamencos national reserve. Along with the so-called Valley of Death, this place is unique within the environment that surrounds the Sierra Orbate at 2500 meters above sea level, it is a depression of relative size of 440 km² of the so-called Cordillera de la Sal in the Salar de Atacama surrounded by crests of 500 m elevation.

Itinerary

• Departure from the stables of San Pedro de Atacama, towards the beginning of the Cordillera de la Sal in the mythical Valley of the Moon.

• We will climb the Great Dune, to achieve a perspective of almost 360 degrees.

• We will enjoy an Atacameño Picnic.

• We start the return, entering the Los Cañoncitos sector, until we reach the Quebrada de Kari.

• Then we will go to the Northeast through the bottom of this valley and we will enter another labyrinth of canyons to reach the valley of the dunes and get closer to the town of San Pedro.

• Return to the hotel.
