“COUSIÑO MACUL WINERY” Tour

COUSIÑO MACUL WINERY is one of Chile’s most historic and prestigious wineries, offering visitors an exceptional journey into the origins of Chilean winemaking. Founded in 1856, Cousiño Macul stands as a living legacy of tradition, elegance, and excellence, having remained in the hands of the founding family for over a century and a half. This continuity has allowed the winery to preserve its heritage while consistently producing wines of remarkable quality and international recognition. Located in the Maipo Valley, at the foothills of the Andes and just minutes from Santiago, the winery is set within a beautiful estate that combines historic architecture, century-old vineyards, and lush gardens. The original cellars, built in the 19th century, are among the oldest in Chile and feature impressive underground tunnels where wines age under ideal natural conditions. These cellars reflect the winery’s pioneering spirit, including the early use of French oak barrels and gravity-fed production systems.

A visit to Cousiño Macul offers an in-depth look at traditional winemaking methods blended with modern expertise. Guests can explore the vineyards, historic facilities, and aging cellars while learning about the unique terroir of the Maipo Valley, renowned for producing some of Chile’s finest Cabernet Sauvignon. The winery’s portfolio includes iconic labels such as Antiguas Reservas, Finis Terrae, and Lota, each expressing the character, balance, and elegance that define Cousiño Macul wines. Wine tastings are a highlight of the experience, allowing visitors to sample selected wines guided by knowledgeable experts who explain the aromas, structure, and aging potential of each label. The tour is enriched by stories of the Cousiño family, their contribution to Chilean viticulture, and the historical significance of the estate in shaping the country’s wine identity.

Cousiño Macul Winery is more than a wine destination—it is a journey through time, tradition, and craftsmanship. Ideal for wine enthusiasts and cultural travelers alike, this iconic winery offers an authentic and memorable experience that captures the essence of Chile’s winemaking heritage in an elegant and timeless setting.
