The Mercado Central de Santiago or simply Mercado Central is a market for the sale of food, mainly fish and seafood, located in the Chilean capital. It is located in the commune of Santiago, considered the historic center of the city, between Ismael Valdés Vergara, 21 de Mayo, San Pablo and Puente streets. Construction began on the building in 1869 and was inaugurated on August 23, 1872, 148 years ago.
It was declared a Historic Monument on June 15, 19841 2 and is part of the «Patrimonial Santiago de la Ruta Capital circuit. In June 2012, National Geographic magazine highlighted it as the fifth best market in the world.
The building has two floors and has 241 stores — restaurants, liquor stores, butchers, herbalists, bakeries, fishmongers, cheese shops, grocery stores and handicrafts.

Departure from our hotel in Santiago to the Central Market.
At the front of the Market we will receive an introduction to the gastronomic elements that we can find in this important historic center of Santiago.
In this way we will take a tour and select the elements to use and prepare for our lunch.
Finally, we will arrive at Restaurant El Galeón, where we will start an interactive meal in the company of the chef.
After enjoying this delicious meal, we will return to our hotel in Santiago.
