"TURTLE NESTING SIGHTINGS" Tour
TURTLE SANCTUARY EXPERIENCE IN CAYO LARGO DEL SUR. Cayo Largo del Sur is not only famous for its stunning beaches and crystal-clear waters — it is also a true sanctuary for sea turtles. Every year, between 10,000 and 30,000 turtle eggs from three remarkable species — the Loggerhead (Caretta caretta), the Green turtle (Chelonia mydas), and the Hawksbill — are carefully rescued and protected until they hatch.
From April to October, during the quiet Caribbean nights, these majestic creatures come ashore to lay their eggs on the soft sands of Cayo Largo, which has become Cuba’s largest nesting site for sea turtles and the fourth largest in the insular Caribbean. Visitors have the extraordinary opportunity to witness this miracle of nature and even help release baby turtles into the sea, an unforgettable experience that touches the heart of every person, regardless of age or origin. Holding a newborn turtle and watching it take its first steps toward the ocean is a moving and magical moment — one that connects us deeply with nature and the fragile beauty of life itself.
Very Important This excursion is subject to the natural weather conditions and the nesting and spawning seasons of the turtles, so it will not always be available.
