Casa Sierra Maestra is the ideal place, given its privileged location, to begin the ascents to two of the most important excursions in the area and the country, the visit to the Commandery of the Silver and the ascent to the Pico Real del Turquino. The Comandancia de la Plata is currently a Historical Complex that was built and used by Fidel Castro and the Rebel Army at the end of the fifties. They functioned as General Headquarters during the resumption of the Cuban Revolutionary Struggles of that period. facilities that were the support of the guerrillas commanded by Fidel and Raúl Casto, Ché, Camilo and the most representative figures of the guerrilla movement, the strategic position and the peculiar design of Fidel's house make it one of the most visited. This facility was declared a National Monument since 1980. The perfect combination of history, nature and hiking makes this a pleasant excursion through the mountains of the Sierra Maestra.

The Turquino Peak is the highest mountain in Cuba with 1974 meters above sea level, it can be a real challenge to reach its summit, during its ascent it is possible to enjoy excellent views and is home to several endemic species. This tour takes two days and one night or more, traveling around 26 km round trip to Santo Domingo and 23.5 km to Las Cuevas, the southern slope of the Sierra Maestra.
