Overview

The name of the Hostel is based on the character Caniquí of the novel of the same name by the Cuban author José Antonio Ramos. The character is embodied by a black slave who escapes several times into the forests of the Trinitarian Escambray fleeing slavery. The rebellion, the hope, the air of freedom, the attachment to their traditions and the love for the nature of Caniquí is what inspires us.

The Hostal "Buscando a Caniquí" is a private house that is located in an old house built at the end of the eighteenth century that is preserved in excellent condition. It is owned by the González Niebla and Izquierdo family since 1968 and expanded in 2005. It is located 100 meters from the Historic District of Trinidad, third city founded by Spaniards in Hispanic America and a World Heritage Site since 1988.

In the Hostal "Buscando a Caniquí" our family tries to make you feel like a guest in your own home where you will discover the fascinating world of one of the best preserved cities of the colonial Hispanic community giving you a personalized service to each one of your needs. tourist. From our Hostal, where you will find a sample of works of contemporary art by the most outstanding artists of the island, we will offer you several options that will allow you to know the local culture, its arts and traditions as well as the unique nature that surrounds Trinidad with one of the the most important natural parks in the country, the Escambray Massif, World Biosphere Heritage, full of exuberant vegetation, waterfalls, natural pools and caves as well as the enjoyment of its more than 15 kilometers of beaches and small coves that overlook the Caribbean Sea .
