"Trinidad" City Tour

Trinidad, the third village founded in Cuba in 1514, given its high degree of conservation, was declared as World Heritage Site in 1988. It has a socio-cultural and economic history treasured by more of five centuries. In this tour we invite you to take a walk through the streets of its historical center where you can feel how life went on in this city in centuries past until today, its valuable buildings as an example of its architecture, the cultures that converged in the village (Trinidad) as well as recognizing the economic development it achieved especially during the 18th and 19th centuries.

Itinerary

• 09:00 hours, start at the City Model, located at the interceptions of Colón and Maceo streets. Taking into account that Trinidad is a city whose streets are asymmetrical, the clients will receive a brief explanation about the location of the town within our island, the history of the building where the model is located and will also be emphasized to show the route to follow.

• 09:30 a.m., transfer walking along Maceo Street (Gutiérrez) to Piro Guinart (Boca) where we will turn right and go to the foundation square (Plaza del Jigüe) which is located at the intersection of Piro Guinart (Boca) and Rubén Martínez Villena (Real del Jigüe) streets.) During this tour will be explained aspects related to the predominant architecture of the village, conservation of buildings, customs of the first inhabitants to the present, socio-cultural centers and services that are on the route. Already in the Plaza del Jigüe, reference will be made to the foundation of the town, as well as the first street that Trinidad had (Real del Jigüe), all at the foot of the tree of the same name. From here we will visit the "Canchánchara", a tavern where you can taste the typical drink of the city and that has the same name, we will also describe the origin and composition of the drink, as well as the history of the place.

• 10:30 a.m., we will go along Real del Jigüe street until the intersection of this street with Simón Bolívar (Desengaño), right where the Plaza Mayor is located, where its history will be described, as well as the history of the surrounding buildings. Here we suggest a visit to one of the museums included in the tour.

• 11:30 a.m., clients will have some free time to visit a cultural center in the historical center (Casa de la Música, Casa de la Trova, Palenque de los Congos Reales); all of them located very close to the Plaza Mayor and where they can also do their shopping.

• 12:30 p.m., return to the place of origin.
