DESCRIPTION:

The Bay of Cienfuegos, formerly known as Jagua Bay, is an inlet of the Caribbean Sea located on the southern coast of the island of Cuba, and which belongs to the province of Cienfuegos. During the tour you can visit a cemetery of sunken ships. Cayo Carenas is one of the 14 keys that the bay has, characterized by being the only one where people live. You will have the opportunity to descend and walk around to enjoy the flora and fauna of the place. Beautiful colored fish adorn the surrounding waters where you can bathe before continuing the journey to ´´Nuestra Señora de los Ángeles de Jagua Fortress´´.

´´Nuestra Señora de los Ángeles de Jagua Fortress´´ is a castle built with the aim of protecting the territory from corsairs and pirates that prowled the Caribbean coasts and used to take refuge there in search of water and food. Nailed at the very entrance of the bay, facing the Atlantic Ocean, this fortress has the only drawbridge that still works in the country. In its exhibition rooms, you can see the different stages that the building went through, as well as the different firearms or sabers used by the soldiers who were there. The legend of the blue lady adds a touch of mystery to the castle´s visit.

Once back on the mainland, we will enter the beautiful ''City of the Sea'' to make a panoramic tour around its central square where the human eye can find buildings built from the nineteenth century to the present. Buildings such as the house of the founder Louis De Clouet, from New Orleans, the cathedral, the Tomas Terry Theater, the Government Palace, Ferrer Palace, are some of the emblematic buildings that adorn our central square, making it worthy of being part of the Cultural Heritage of Humanity since 2005.

Excursion Scheduled for: 6 hours. (From 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.)

• 9.00 am: Pick up by the guide at the hostel where the clients are staying to start the excursion. (Brief explanation of the itinerary)
• 9.00-9.10 am: Transfer by moto-taxi where the visitor can see the charms of our city until the arrival at the meeting point of the boat. The captains possess vast experience.
• 9:15-10.30 am: Sail time around the Bay of Cienfuegos. Includes bathroom in the bay.
• 10.35-11.35 am: Visit to ´´Nuestra Señora de los Ángeles de Jagua Fortress´´ where the client will receive a broad historical explanation of the place.
• 11.40-1.30 pm: Lunch based on seafood. (Includes fried plantains filled with fish, croquettes, toasted bread, soup, mixed plate which contains lobster, shrimp and fish fillet, vegetable salad, rice and dessert) There are also options for vegetarians and vegans. The liquid must be paid by the client.
• 1.35-2.45 pm: Return to the city.
• 2.50-3.00 pm: Transportation back to the hostel.
