"RIDE THROUGH TRINIDAD IN HORSE-DRAWN CARRIAGES" Tour

Trinidad – The Colonial Gem of Cuba. Founded in 1514 by Spanish colonizer Diego Velázquez, Trinidad is a true colonial treasure and one of the best-preserved towns in the Caribbean. It was the second Cuban city to earn a UNESCO World Heritage designation, after Havana, and has retained much of its charm and historical character over the centuries. The city played a pivotal role in the Spanish colonial era. After Hernán Cortés set sail from Trinidad to discover Mexico, the town flourished through the sugar trade and the exploitation of enslaved labor in the cane sugar mills of the nearby Valle de los Ingenios. Many of these historical sites remain today, allowing visitors to explore colorful cobblestone streets, colonial plazas, churches, and private mansions, all reflecting the wealth and history of the sugar era.

Trinidad is more than a city—it is a living museum of Cuba’s colonial past, where the 18th and 19th centuries come alive through architecture, culture, and local traditions. Its surrounding landscape, including the Valle de los Ingenios, offers a glimpse into the rural life of the sugar plantations, with preserved mills, workers’ barracks, and picturesque countryside. Located on the southwestern coast of Cuba, in Sancti Spíritus province, Trinidad sits at the heart of the island, combining natural beauty with a rich historical heritage. Its UNESCO designation in 1988 recognizes the city and the valley not only for their outstanding architecture but also for their cultural and historical significance. Visiting Trinidad is stepping back in time—immersing yourself in the colonial splendor, the vibrant history of sugar, and the timeless charm of Cuba’s Caribbean jewel.
