Cairo is a city with a hectic nightlife and multiple options for fun. As the sun goes down, the streets fill with people going shopping or meeting friends. Then the fun lasts until 3:00 or 4:00 a.m., when the dance venues close. Among the various options for going out at night in Cairo are the baladi bars, also known as coffee shops, where alcoholic beverages are sold. It should be noted that as the majority of the Islamic population, the locals do not consume alcohol. But travelers can feel at ease in these bars, which are mostly located in the Sharia Alfy area around Midan Orabi. Perhaps women can feel a bit uncomfortable since they are frequented more than anything by men. On the other hand, the clubs in Cairo are very different from the European ones. Those who go there sit down to eat or drink while watching a show, usually belly dancing. Most of these, as well as the traditional cafes are located in the city center or in the Zalamek neighborhood.
