We are Beyond Roots, a group of friends that have joined efforts in order to provide an Immersion in Afro Cuban Culture. Growing up in Guanabacoa, one of the strongest exponents of this culture, we were raised under the living legacy of our African ancestors. Now we have an authentic passion for educating people about this misunderstood topic. We want to share with you the feeling of our community, transmit you a knowledge that has been passed from generations and show you its influence in the daily life of the Cubans from different perspectives. In this particular experience you will have an immersion in every aspect of it.

WHAT WILL WE DO?

• Do you want to enter the world of female entrepreneurship in Cuba? Do you want to support unique initiatives that have exceeded all expectations? Do you want to meet directly the masterminds that have broken gender stereotypes? Well, this is the perfect opportunity for you!

• We’ll start our day at the Centro de las Raíces” at Old Havana. This is the first cultural center in Cuba fully dedicated to enhance afro aesthetics and identity in the island and Beyond Roots headquarters. Founded by Adriana, this space celebrates natural beauty and African heritage, providing a community hub for young entrepreneurs.

• Next, we will have a cultural immersion at Ciclo Ecopapel where you’ll meet Yuyú, the visionary behind this ecological project. Learn how her family transforms recyclable materials into beautiful art and crafts, promoting a culture of recycling in Havana.

• We then cycle to Zulu, a business with over 30 years of experience in crafting exclusive leather bags. Discover how professional women have turned abandoned leather scraps into unique, high-quality products.

• Our final stop is Creperie Oasis Nelva, a green paradise in the city. Enjoy a house cocktail and snacks made from fresh, organic ingredients while exchanging stories with owner Carmen in her tranquil oasis.
