Holguín City – “The City of Parks”. Holguín, often called La Ciudad de los Parques (The City of Parks), is one of Cuba’s most charming and culturally rich provincial capitals. With wide tree-lined streets, elegant colonial buildings, and lively plazas, Holguín offers a calm yet vibrant urban experience filled with history, tradition, and authentic Cuban life.
City Tour Holguín: Calixto García Park, The heart of the city and its most iconic square. Surrounded by historic buildings, cafés, museums, and the elegant City Hall, this park is a natural meeting point for locals and a perfect place to soak in the city’s atmosphere. Loma de la Cruz (Hill of the Cross), A must-see viewpoint located 465 steps above the city. From the top, enjoy a breathtaking panoramic view of Holguín and its surroundings. This hill has been a symbol of the city since the 18th century and hosts traditional festivities every May. Provincial Museum of History, Learn about the region’s past, including aboriginal artifacts, colonial heritage, and the history of the Cuban Wars of Independence. Museum of Natural History, A fascinating collection of flora and fauna from the eastern region of Cuba. Plaza de la Marqueta, A restored cultural marketplace showcasing crafts, local artists, galleries, and live performances—an excellent place for authentic souvenirs.
