“BIRDWATCHING IN ROCAZUL BIOPARK” Tour
Our Group proposes panoramic tours of the most significant sites in Cuban history, culture and contemporary life. So this is a treat for those seeking some vacation adventures on their Cuba holiday tour.
ROCAZUL Biopark is located on the west coast of Naranjo Bay, in the province of Holguin, Cuba. Inaugurated in 2005, this beautiful natural park is composed by an exquisite flora and fauna and in it we can find birds such as: tocororo, hummingbird or zunzún, cartacuba, mockingbird or green woodpecker or perform dissimilar outdoor activities. ROCAZUL Biopark occupies a total of 496 hectares with vegetation cover inhabited by 115 species, many of them endemic with the presence of limestone rocks, serpentinites creating unique shapes in the relief. The relief is formed by limestone rocks and serpentinites that give a blue tone to the landscape; hence the name. ROCAZUL Biopark is part of the Oriente hybridization belt and the migratory bird corridor. Several trails run through the ROCAZUL Biopark and allow visitors to get to know this natural wonder without affecting the environment. Of these, the most extensive is the Rocazul Trail, 4.2 km long; those who choose it will find along the way large quantities of rocks dating back some 70 million years; archeological representations of Cuban aborigines and vegetation adapted to the low humidity conditions, where the Escobaria cubensis, one of the smallest cacti in the world, stands out.
