Fishing area Salinas de Brito

The Salinas de Brito, a natural area rich in biodiversity and covering an area of some two thousand square kilometers, is located in the Ciénaga de Zapata National Park, the largest and best preserved wetland in the insular Caribbean, in the south of the province of Matanzas. Specialists consider it a sanctuary for Cuban birds because it provides refuge for more than 65 migratory species that come there during the winter season between October and March. The abundance of pink flamingos, which reaches 10,000 each year, distinguishes the Salinas de Brito, a short distance from the Caribbean Sea, where pelicans, ospreys, ducks, herons and other resident or migratory birds are also abundant. It's natural panorama is very rich and serves as a habitat for exceptional flora and fauna, characterized by it's high level of endemism. It immediately impacts the beauty of it's forests, it's almost virgin mangroves and marshes, with the four Cuban mangrove species and abundance of precious woods. The site especially attracts many adventurers because it is considered one of the best destinations in the Caribbean for fly fishing of species such as bonefish, snook and permit.
