The Elqui Valley, formerly also called the Coquimbo Valley, is a watershed located in the province of Elqui, Coquimbo Region, in Chile. The main river of this basin is the Elqui, which is born from the confluence of the Claro and Turbio rivers, both coming from the Andes mountain range, and flows into the Pacific Ocean, some kilometers north of the city of La Serena.
Itinerary
- Departure from La Serena, towards the Elqui Valley, during the tour you will visit the vineyards and papaya plantations, typical fruit of the area.
- We will make a stop at the Puclaro Reservoir.
- Continuing the trip to Vicuña, birthplace of the Nobel Prize winning poetess, Gabriela Mistral, and other towns in the area, such as, Rivadavia, Paihuano and Montegrande. In this last one, a visit to the Zen Art Gallery will be made, to enjoy a session of meditation and relaxation guided by a specialist.
- Visit to the Tomb of Gabriela Mistral
- Then continue to Pisco Elqui, to visit the church, plaza and Pisquera Artesanal plant.
- Upon arrival in San Isidro, you will visit the Mamalluca Tourist Observatory, where specialists give lectures on astronomy and you can observe the main stars of the Southern Hemisphere.
- At the end, return to the hotel.
