Itinerary:

  • A Refreshing Oasis in the Heart of the Desert. The Atacama Desert is famous for its arid landscapes but not everything here is dry.

  • Hidden among the desert’s remarkable scenery are special places where water still flows, transforming the environment into a lush and unexpected oasis.

  • The Hidden Waterfall Trek is a gentle and fascinating experience, perfect for travelers looking for something different: a closer, cooler, and more immersive way to discover the Atacama.

  • From San Pedro to a Hidden Oasis. We depart from San Pedro de Atacama and travel north toward a landscape where the desert slowly begins to change.

  • Along the way, the scenery reveals impressive rock formations, subtle signs of vegetation, and the fascinating transition between the dry desert and a more vibrant natural environment.

  • Soon, we arrive at the starting point of the hike.

  • The walk is short, accessible, and carried out at a relaxed pace as we follow a small canyon surrounded by striking desert scenery.

  • The trail combines sand, rocks, and a few small stream crossings. Throughout the journey, we move carefully and attentively, always taking the group’s pace into consideration.

  • Step by step, the sound of running water begins to emerge.

  • And little by little, the hidden landscape reveals itself.

  • Three Waterfalls to Discover. At the end of the trail, a wonderful surprise awaits: not just one waterfall, but three.

  • The main waterfall is the tallest, reaching approximately eight meters and creating a spectacular contrast with the surrounding desert.

  • Two smaller waterfalls complete the scene, adding to the feeling of exploration and discovery.

  • The flowing water, green vegetation, and cooler microclimate create an intimate and sheltered refuge—a peaceful oasis unlike anywhere else in the desert.

  • Visitors can take time to relax, enjoy the scenery, and, if they wish, step into the refreshing water.
