“ANCIENT BEACH AND CAVES" Tour

Welcome to Arica, Chile’s "City of Eternal Spring," where the arid Atacama Desert dramatically kisses the deep blue Pacific.

A complete tour of the Arica waterfront, a vibrant, palm-lined boardwalk perfect for a leisurely stroll. With the iconic Morro de Arica towering above and the refreshing ocean breeze at your back, it’s the ideal spot to soak in the local energy, savor fresh seafood, and watch the sky explode into brilliant shades of gold and crimson at sunset.

Just minutes away lies a startling contrast: the Lluta River Wetland Sanctuary. This lush oasis is a miracle of nature in the heart of the desert. As the only wetland in northern Chile, it is a birdwatcher’s paradise. Walk the peaceful trails and spot elegant flamingos, herons, and migratory birds gliding through the waters where the river meets the sea.

Finally, step back in time at the rugged Anzota Caves. Carved into the sheer coastal cliffs by the ancient Chango people—Chile’s earliest fishermen—these natural rock formations offer a mesmerizing glimpse into pre-Columbian life. As you explore the caverns with the crashing waves echoing below, you'll feel the deep, mystical connection between an ancient culture and the wild ocean.

From scenic seaside promenades to hidden natural oases and ancient coastal mysteries, Arica’s shore is an unforgettable adventure.

Itinerary

  • A Birdwatcher’s Paradise: We’ll kick things off at the northern edge of the city, where the desert magically gives way to the Lluta River Wetland Sanctuary. This lush, unexpected oasis is a vital rest stop for hundreds of migratory birds—some traveling all the way from other continents to enjoy these tranquil waters.

  • The Sunny Coastline Route: Feel the ocean breeze as we cruise south along Arica’s most beloved shoreline. You’ll experience the golden sands of Playa Las Machas and Chinchorro, discover the unique, reclaimed shores of the former Alacrán Island, and soak up the laid-back vibe at the beautiful beaches of El Laucho, La Lisera, and Corazones.

  • Step into the Past: Next, we channel our inner explorer at the Anzota Caves. Carved right into the rugged seaside cliffs, this breathtaking coastal sanctuary weaves together raw nature, ancient history, and absolutely stunning ocean panoramas.

  • The Crown Jewel: We’ll wrap up our journey by ascending the iconic Morro de Arica. After soaking in the privileged, 360-degree panoramic views of the city and the glittering Pacific, we’ll step inside the Historical and Weapons Museum. Here, you’ll travel back in time to relive the gripping story of the Morro's capture during the War of the Pacific.

Come uncover the perfect blend of wildlife, relaxation, ancient mysteries, and rich history along Arica’s unforgettable shores!
