Your 8-day journey through Cuba begins in the vibrant capital of Havana. Explore the lively old town, enjoy the impressive architecture, and let yourself be enchanted by the unique atmosphere of the city. Your adventure continues to Pinar del Río and the picturesque Viñales Valley. This region is known for its vast tobacco fields and impressive cave formations. You’ll visit the beautiful beach of Cayo Jutías, where you can swim in the turquoise waters and enjoy the picturesque land scape. On a bike tour through the beautiful countryside to La Palma and Soroa, you’ll experience unspoiled nature and have the opportunity for optional visits, such as the orchid garden. A special highlight of your trip is the visit to Las Terrazas, a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve. Here, you can experience local culture up close and discover the impressive flora and fauna. Finally, you return to Havana, where you’l visit the Havana Club Rum Museum and learn more about the history and production of the famous Cuban rum.

This 8-day cycling tour is not only something special for active travellers, but also for those who would like to discover eco-friendly Cuba in a different way: by bicycle. Your guide will lead you through Cuba’s western regions, while the daily routes vary from 10 to 50 km. Your luggage will be transported in the support van, which you can get on at any time as well. This trip will add excitement and emotion to your adventure vacations in Cuba.

Welcome to Cuba! You will arrive at the international airport in Havana where we can arrange to have a car waiting for you, or you can choose to arrange for your own transportation to the elegant Hotel in Havana. Depending on your arrival time, you will have some time to explore Havana after checking into your accommodation.

Museum tips:
After breakfast you will meet your tour guide and you will journey to Pinar del Rio, the major tobacco-growing region of Western Cuba. Here you will get to visit a tobacco factory and discover the town on a guided walking tour. Afterwards, we will stop for lunch and will then get ready for the cycling tour through the beautiful Vinales-Valley. Here you will see rolling fields of cultivated tobacco, large Mogote rock formations and many beautiful birds, as well as numerous cave formations. There are many wonderful things to see in this region, including the Cueva del Indio, a 90 meter high underground cave. Lunch will be served in a local restaurant and dinner in the Hotel.

Today you will cycle to Cayo Jutias, a secluded sandy beach. Your ride takes you through the Sierra de Organos, a meandering mountain range to the northwest of Havana. Cayo Jutías is a small island attached to mainland Cuba by a man-made causeway – cycling over this causeway is truly spectacular! Cayo Jutias is the perfect place to go for a swim or take and optional boat tour. We will have a picnic lunch on the beach and later in the afternoon you can choose to bike or take the bus back to the hotel. Dinner will be served at the hotel.

After breakfast you will begin cycling along the Jagua Vieja Road to La Palma in the Ancón Valley. On the way, you will stop for a fun and educational tour of the woodland cabin where Fidel Castro held secret meetings at the beginning of the revolution (facultative excursion). Enjoy lunch in the beautiful, natural, green landscape of the Ancon-Valley. You will have dinner at the hotel.

Worth knowing:
After breakfast, you cycle along the Carretera Central to Soroa. The route takes you through charming, rural western Cuban towns. We recommend that you visit the famous orchid garden in Soroa (optional), where you can see over 700 species of this delicate flower.

After breakfast, you cycle to the Las Terrazas nature reserve, 20 km away. This municipality is located in the Sierra del Rosario, a UNESCO-protected rural area for sustainable development. On your ride, you will see the San Juan River, small lakes and a small waterfall flowing through the dense forest, as well as ruins and coffee plantations from the 19th century. The name of the municipality of Las Terrazas is derived from the overgrown terraced fields typical of this region. The 900 inhabitants of this community live from the timber industry and ecotourism. Here you will enjoy the life of a small farming community settled in these lands in the middle of the highlands. The 25,000 hectares of forest surrounding this community were declared a Biosphere Reserve by UNESCO. The inhabitants of this community live and sustain themselves through reforestation and ecotourism. As part of the experiences that you will live in the tour you will have a stop in a peasant house where you can enjoy a typical lunch. In the afternoon, you will take the bus back to Soroa.

In the morning, take the bus back to Havana. Your tour guide will accompany you on a tour through the narrow streets of Old Havana and give you a final impression of the Spanish-Andalusian architecture of the old town. Your tour ends with a visit to the Havana Club Rum Museum, a great place to buy some souvenirs or have a cocktail! Lunch in a restaurant included.

Tips for the last evening:
Today is the day of the grand farewell to vibrant Cuba. Take the morning at your leisure and at your leisure. Take your last stroll through Havana's colorful streets and explore its greatest treasures in the old part of the city, before it's time for your transfer back to the international airport for your flight home, or simply to take you to your new extension hotel in Havana or another destination in the country.
