“EL YESO RESERVOIR & BAÑOS COLINA HOT SPRINGS” Tour

EL YESO RESERVOIR is one of Chile’s most impressive natural landscapes and a true hidden gem of the Andes Mountains. Located in the heart of the Cajón del Maipo, approximately 100 kilometers southeast of Santiago, this spectacular reservoir sits at an altitude of over 2,500 meters above sea level and is surrounded by towering peaks, dramatic valleys, and pristine wilderness. Its striking turquoise-blue waters contrast beautifully with the rugged mountain scenery, creating a breathtaking setting that feels untouched and remote. Built to supply drinking water to the capital, El Yeso Reservoir has also become a highly sought-after destination for nature lovers, photographers, and adventure seekers. The journey to the reservoir is an experience in itself, following winding mountain roads along the Maipo River and offering panoramic views of snow-capped mountains, deep canyons, and unique high-altitude landscapes. Along the way, visitors can appreciate the raw beauty of the Andes and the sense of tranquility that defines this region.

Upon arrival, the reservoir reveals an extraordinary visual spectacle. The intense color of the water changes throughout the day depending on the light, ranging from deep turquoise to soft emerald tones. The surrounding environment invites visitors to relax, take unforgettable photographs, and enjoy the silence and fresh mountain air. El Yeso is an ideal place for walking, sightseeing, and connecting with nature, making it a perfect escape from the urban rhythm of Santiago. El Yeso Reservoir is also a gateway to understanding the ecological and geographical importance of the Cajón del Maipo, a region that plays a vital role in Chile’s water resources and environmental conservation. Whether visited during the warmer months, when the roads are accessible and the scenery is vibrant, or admired from a distance during winter when snow enhances its beauty, El Yeso offers a unique and memorable experience.

BAÑOS COLINA HOT SPRINGS offer one of the most extraordinary and relaxing natural experiences in Chile, set deep within the majestic Andes Mountains in the Cajón del Maipo region. Located at over 3,000 meters above sea level, near the impressive San José Volcano, these thermal springs are surrounded by dramatic mountain landscapes, snow-capped peaks, and vast open valleys, creating a unique setting of peace, beauty, and renewal. The hot springs are formed by a series of natural pools carved into the mountainside, filled with 100% natural geothermal waters that flow directly from the earth. The water temperatures range from approximately 25°C to 55°C (77°F to 131°F), allowing visitors to move between pools and enjoy a personalized and deeply relaxing bathing experience. Rich in minerals, the thermal waters are renowned for their therapeutic properties, helping to relieve muscle tension, joint pain, rheumatic conditions, and stress, while also promoting skin regeneration and overall well-being.

Bathing at Baños Colina is not only a physical experience but also a sensory and emotional one. Immersed in warm waters while surrounded by the vastness of the Andes, visitors can enjoy breathtaking panoramic views, absolute tranquility, and a profound connection with nature. The contrast between the steaming pools and the cool mountain air enhances the sensation of relaxation, making this an unforgettable highlight for travelers seeking rest and rejuvenation. Despite its remote location, Baños Colina remains an accessible and highly rewarding destination, often combined with scenic drives through the Cajón del Maipo and visits to nearby natural attractions. Whether enjoyed after a day of trekking or as a stand-alone escape focused on relaxation, the hot springs provide a perfect balance between adventure and comfort.

This destination combines dramatic landscapes, peaceful surroundings, and a sense of adventure, making it a must-see attraction for travelers seeking authentic Andean beauty.
