Soroa, is known as the Rainbow of Cuba because among its main attractions is the spectacular waterfall of 22 meters high that invites you to take a refreshing bath at any time of year and that with the rays of the sun in some hours of the day you can appreciate a rainbow in its waters. A place of great richness, variety and excellence of its flora and fauna. It also has the largest orchid garden in the country where you can find more than 750 different varieties of orchids and ferns.

Walking through paths with exuberant vegetation, bordering rivers and waterfalls of crystalline waters is to have the certainty that beautiful places really exist and that human efforts to protect the natural environment persist. Soroa, located in the Province of Artemisa, is the ideal place for these tours, which is why we have designed a series of tours through various trails in this place for your enjoyment.

The "Coffee Plantation Ruins" trail is an alternative hiking route with a guided tour, offering visitors the opportunity to engage in a moderate-level physical activity while learning about the surrounding environment, including the local flora and fauna, especially the diverse birdlife, which boasts many endemic species in this region. In addition to connecting with the history of previous centuries, remnants of the paths used by the French settlers who came to develop coffee cultivation in this area can still be seen, as well as the ruins of the adjacent dwelling, where the area designated for the enslaved people is still visible. During this tour, visitors can also observe what were likely the quarries from which the stones for these constructions were extracted. To add a refreshing touch, you can visit the tranquil and crystal-clear waters of the stream that flows through a part of this Soroa natural park.

Itinerary

• Welcome reception with a cocktail at the resort's pool bar. The musical group “Horizontes” will be performing during the reception.
• Brief explanation of the day's activities.
• 1st Stop: Mirador Base. Explanation of the historical evolution of the “Neptuno” coffee plantation (which later became the Soroa estate, the current location of the Soroa tourist resort).
• 2nd Stop: Ruins of the “La Merced” coffee plantation. Explanation of its historical evolution.
• 3rd Stop: La Ceiba. Explanation of the religious importance of this tree in Cuban culture.
• 4th Stop: Wild pineapple plantation. Explanation of the traditional medicine project.
• 5th Stop: French Causeway. Explanation of the architecture of the old coffee plantations' buildings and the main destinations of coffee exports. Explanation of the October Crisis.
• 6th Stop: First crossing of the Bayate River. 5-minute rest stop.
• 7th Stop: Ruins of the “La Esperanza” coffee plantation. Explanation of its historical evolution.
• 8th Stop: Pinus rubencis plantation. Explanation of the “Turquino-Manatí” Mountain Plan.
• 9th Stop: Ruins of the Independencia coffee plantation. Explanation of its historical evolution.
• 10th Stop: “El Caimito” natural pool, with time for swimming upon request.
• 11th Stop: Slaves' Quarry. Explanation of the decline, crisis, and disappearance of the settlements. Cultural and social legacy.
• Return to the hotel.
