Soroa, also known as the Cuban Rainbow, is located in the limits of the mountainous elevations of the Sierra del Rosario about 70 kilometers to the west of Pinar del Río, belonging to the Cordillera de Guaniguanico, municipality Candelaria in the province of Artemisa, in the small valley that forms the Manantiales river. Soroa, Natural place of great beauty and variety, considered a Biosphere Reserve in western Cuba by the UNESCO. Visitors from all over the world come to this wonderful place to admire and enjoy the beautiful work that nature created in this abrupt place, surrounded by mountains and rivers. It’s a place privileged by the wealth, variety and excellent conservation of its flora and fauna. This site boasts the largest orchid garden in the country, where more than 750 different varieties of orchids and multiple species of ferns have found a nice shelter. This colorful garden is like the haven for serious orchids enthusiasts. You should not miss the stunning waterfall of 21 meters high that invites visitors to take a refreshing swim any time of the year.

Las Terrazas community is situated in Sierra del Rosario, one of Cuba’s natural strongholds, which was declared Biosphere Reserve by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) in 1985. Arriving in Las Terrazas is like penetrating the intensity of exquisite wild places where humans and nature become one. This is the impression that the evergreen forests, rivers, and crystal clear waterfalls give. Entering the community is to have the certainty that such beautiful sites really exist and that human efforts to protect such natural environment will persist.

The complement to leisure lies in an infrastructure that aims to integrate tourism into the community, like in the case of “Fonda de las Mercedes”, which was conceived as an attraction that facilitates visitors’ interaction with a local family and the rescue of Cuban culinary traditions. The history of coffee cultivation, which started in the region in the 19th century, is one of the major attractions for customers at the Buenavista Restaurant, which was built on the ruins of the coffee farm of the same name, founded by French immigrants. The Tourist Complex Las Terrazas, located exactly in the northeastern end, 2.4 miles north of Km 51st of the National Highway, only 45 minutes west of Havana, is a good place that invites you to enjoy nature tourism.
