THE FLOATING ISLANDS OF THE UROS TOUR
The floating islands of the Uros are a group of artificial islands that are inhabited and built from Totora, an aquatic plant that grows on the surface of Lake Titicaca. The islands are raised on a portion of the surface of Lake Titicaca, blocks of Totora roots are woven on which successive layers of Totora are laid out woven or interwoven in the form of mats. The Uros are its inhabitants, an ancestral people who are currently concentrated in Peru on the floating islands located in the bay of Puno. Their subsistence is based on the ancestral culture linked to Lake Titicaca, based on the multiple uses given to the Totora that springs from the bottom and fishing.
