VALLE DE COLCHAGUA (in Mapudungún: Kolchawwe, ‘place of tadpoles’) is one of the most prominent agricultural areas in Chile. Located approximately 150 kilometers south of Santiago. The main city of this territory, is its capital San Fernando, the city of Santa Cruz also stands out. Warm and naturally dry, but with abundant water provided by the Tinguiririca River, Colchagua is a narrow agricultural valley that begins at the foot of the Andes and extends west to the Pacific Ocean. The name Valle de Colchagua is a Chilean denomination of origin for wines from the homonymous geographical area that comply with the requirements established by the Agriculture Decree No. 464 of December 14, 1994, which establishes the country's viticultural zoning and fixes the rules for their use as appellations of origin.
Itinerary
Departure from our hotel in Santiago to the Colchagua Valley.
To begin we will visit the Colchagua Museum. This institution has the most complete private collection in Chile and offers us many surprises as we walk through this unforgettable building.
To continue we will enjoy a delicious lunch at Los Varietales, restaurant of the Hotel Santa Cruz Plaza and to continue with our tour we will visit the Santa Cruz winery, located 25 km away. from Santa Cruz, near Lolol. We will tour its facilities and taste its iconic wine: Shaman.
We will also have the opportunity to take the cable car to visit the indigenous peoples where the Aymara, Rapa Nui and Mapuche cultures have been recreated.
To end our day we will visit the Automobile Museum, an exhibition of a large collection of vintage cars, dating from the 1890s to the 1980s.
At the end of our last tour, we will return to our hotel in Santiago.
