In addition, we will discover the main characteristic of Colchagua: its world famous red wine, favored thanks to the warm and dry climate of the valley.
Viña Viu Manent: Chosen among the Top # 25 World´s Best Vineyards. Viu Manent is a Chilean winery owned by the Viu family. Founded by the Catalan immigrant in 1935 when Miguel Viu García and his two sons Agustín and Miguel Viu Manent founded Bodegas Viu in Santiago de Chile, dedicating themselves to the trade and packaging of wines for the local market with the brand "Vinos Viu" .
Viña Lapostolle: It was founded in 1994 by the Marnier Lapostolle family from France and the Rabat family from Chile, through Alexandra Marnier Lapostolle, Cyril de Bournet (her husband) and the Chilean José Rabat Gorchs. The Marnier Lapostolle family is the creator and owner of the Grand Marnier liqueur. In the beginning, the Marnier family was determined to venture into Argentina, Mendoza, but given the complicated production conditions and customs barriers imposed on wine producers, they decided to move to the Colchagua Valley in the sixth region, 150 kilometers from Santiago. Casa Lapostolle has its main plantations in the Colchagua Valley, later spreading to other sites, such as the Cachapoal Valley, Casablanca Valley and even Cauquenes, where they join the Carignan or Vigno wine growers association. Of its production, it exports 95% to more than 80 countries such as the United States, England, Canada, France, Switzerland, Japan.
Itinerary
Departure from our hotel in Santiago to the Colchagua Valley.
First, we will visit a family vineyard, Viu Manent. The old vineyard house, where its cafeteria and restaurant are located, is an elegant property that invites you to relax or simply enjoy a coffee or a meal. Thus, a horse-drawn carriage will take us through the vineyard as part of the tour, and then finish the visit with a tasting of their wines.
Continuing our day, we will visit Viña Lapostolle. The tour will begin in the reception room, and then descend towards the fermentation room and its vats, in addition to knowing the place where the barrels are stored in first or second year rooms - in order to follow in detail the gravity process they take grapes and ending in the icon wine of Lapostolle: “Clos Apalta”.
Our visit culminates with the tasting of three of their wines from the Lapostolle’s line; House, Cuvee Alexandre and Clos Apalta.
Finally, we will return to our hotel in Santiago.
